01 · Understand the essentials
From playlist to programme guide, without unnecessary jargon
M3U is a list format: it references streams and their metadata but does not contain channels itself. M3U8 commonly means a UTF-8 encoded list or an HLS stream. Nexus can import an M3U URL or a local file selected through Android and then organise entries from your source.
XMLTV is a guide file describing programmes, schedules and channels. Add the authorised XMLTV URL associated with your playlist and Nexus synchronises and caches those data for its EPG. Matching quality depends on the identifiers supplied by the playlist and guide; refreshing retrieves their later changes.
